Similar to regular tahini, black tahini is made by processing sesame seeds. However, these aren't your everyday sesame seeds - they are black sesame seeds. These are slightly nuttier and earthier than their white or brown counterparts. They can also be quite complex and bitter when eaten in large quantities.
They look beautiful as a garnish for ramen, sushi, and many Asian desserts like mango sticky rice. When made into a paste, the flavor finally shines. It's quite punchy, so use it sparingly.
Ingredients:
1 cup black sesame seeds
3-5 tablespoons olive/sesame oil
Directions:
Dry roast black sesame seeds for 3-4 mins
Let them cool
Pulverize until a paste starts to form
Slowly add in sesame or olive oil
